Google Driver-less Cars

In the not-too-far-off future, you'll be able to tell your phone, "Take me to [my friend]'s house.  I want to leave here in 15 minutes".  In about 10 minutes a robot car will arrive and when you get in it, it will take you to your friend and drop you off.

"[Google's]  new prototype has a few subtle cosmetic changes, including a more polished casing for the equipment on top of the car that enables it to see the road as software directs its course.

Google also noted that the company will use manual controls -- like gas and brake pedals -- while it tests the cars, to comply with California DMV rules. The company is working on its own prototypes, but it's also looking to partner with auto manufacturers to bring self-driving cars to market within the next five years..."
