Regarding the 911 Whitewash

Regarding the 911 Whitewash in Popular Mechanics:

People will grasp at straws to accept stories that enable their continued denial.

(We still don't know who tried to Kill Senator Patrick Leahy with anthrax right after 911 too, but that's another topic)

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/august2006/100806popularmechanics.htm
"
...
Popular Mechanics is owned by Hearst Corporation. As fictionalized in Orson Welles' acclaimed film Citizen Kane, William Randolph Hearst wrote the book on cronyism and yellow journalism
...
A hefty chunk of its advertising revenue relies on the military and defense contractors.
...
senior researcher on the piece Benjamin Chertoff is the cousin of Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
...
The arguments presented in the article have been widely debunked by the 9/11 truth community as an example of a straw man hatchet job - whereby false arguments are erected, attributed to 9/11 skeptics, and then shot down.
...
The article also makes no mention whatsoever of the numerous war games scheduled for the morning of 9/11 which confused air defense personnel as to the true nature of the attack as it unfolded,
...
fails to address firefighters and other individuals who reported numerous explosions before the towers fell, squibs of debris seen shooting out of the towers well below the collapse point, and the fact that the towers fell only slightly slower than absolute free fall.
...
traces of thermite in steel samples
...
the buildings were designed to take multiple airliner impacts and not collapse.
...
The classic crimp implosion of Building 7, which was not hit by a plane, is glossed over as the piece again tries to mislead its readers into believing that over engineered steel buildings collapse from fire damage - [ THE OWNER HAS SINCE ADMITTED TO HAVING BUILDING 7 DEMOLISHED THAT DAY (which required weeks of preparation)]
...
fails to address the fact that 50,000 tons of steel from the WTC, a supposed crime scene, was shipped to Asia and a further 10,000 tons to India, preventing a detailed analysis.
...
Bill Doyle, representative of the largest group of 9/11 family members has to say on this subject.

"If you want to believe what they want to snow you under on like the 9/11 Commission - that's a total fallacy," said Doyle.

"It looks like there was a conspiracy behind 9/11 if you really look at all the facts - a lot of families now feel the same way."

OSC investigating whether Rove's "asset deployment" violated Hatch Act

The Washington Post reports: Thirteen months before President Bush was reelected, chief strategist Karl Rove summoned political appointees from around the government to the Old Executive Office Building. The subject of the Oct. 1, 2003, meeting was "asset deployment," and the message was clear:

The staging of official announcements, high-visibility trips and declarations of federal grants had to be carefully coordinated with the White House political affairs office to ensure the maximum promotion of Bush's reelection agenda and the Republicans in Congress who supported him, according to documents and some of those involved in the effort. ...

Investigators, however, said the scale of Rove's effort is far broader than previously revealed; they say that Rove's team gave more than 100 such briefings during the seven years of the Bush administration. The political sessions touched nearly all of the Cabinet departments and a handful of smaller agencies that often had major roles in providing grants, such as the White House office of drug policy and the State Department's Agency for International Development.

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel and the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee are investigating whether any of the meetings violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from using federal resources for election activities. They also want to know whether any Bush appointees pressured government for favorable actions such as grants to help GOP electoral chances. -- How Rove Directed Federal Assets for GOP Gains - washingtonpost.com

Western Banking Industry Shoots Self in Foot

Western Banking Industry Shoots Self in Foot

Regarding the placement of RFID chips in money, policymakers might think twice about it. Cash is used to assure anonymity by many. When the public loses their faith in the currency as an instrument for anonymous trade, they will find other mediums of exchange.

Being that the Dollar Traditionally has been a symbol of stability (lately undeservedly so), undermining its dependability as a medium of exchange will further weaken it, and our economy along with it.

Some Say there's no chip in the bills. I would venture that it would be a good idea to keep it that way.

Karl Runs for Cover

Karl Runs for Cover.

Another Rat leaving a sinking ship. These guys are doing this in order to evade responsibility. This is in line with the same anti-social, irresponsible behavior reflected in the passage of retroactive laws that are an attempt to absolve corrupt officials from accountability, like Bush's recent maneuvers regarding wiretapping. The way Bush intervened in Libby's situation comes to mind too.

Don't get me wrong. Buh Bye Karl.

But let's not let another snake slither off into the grass after having done his evil work.

No More Filming or Photographing in Town?

Whack-Jobs in New York City are trying to arrange things so that you can't film or take pictures in town without a million dollars and a permit. Is this nuts or what? Talk about Police State. Heads up, Winston Smith.

You Libertarians should be all over this, you know.

And y'all are thinking about Bloomberg for President? This potential policy is anything but democratic. And Guliani? Images of Saddam Hussein's Auditorium come to mind.

Maybe you should talk to someone about this. Your town will be next, you know. You just going to let it go south?

Bush's Direct Attack on Freedom

Remember the phrase "Land of the Free"? Many would mention Freedom of Speech as the foundation of that freedom. It's in the First Amendment.

Bush is attempting to outlaw it.

Here's how:

Bush Outlaws All War Protest In United States

Posted by Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscr on Thursday, July 19th at 5:00 PM

July 19, 2007

In one of his most chilling moves to date against his own citizens, the American War Leader has issued a sweeping order this week outlawing all forms of protest against the Iraq war.

President Bush enacted into US law an ‘Executive Order’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order_%28United_States%29 on July 17th titled "Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq", http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html and which says:
"By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, as amended (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.)(IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.)(NEA), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,

I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that, due to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by acts of violence threatening the peace and stability of Iraq and undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, it is in the interests of the United States to take additional steps with respect to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, and expanded in Executive Order 13315 of August 28, 2003, and relied upon for additional steps taken in Executive Order 13350 of July 29, 2004, and Executive Order 13364 of November 29,
2004."

According to Russian legal experts, the greatest concern to the American people are the underlying provisions of this new law, and which, they state, are written ‘so broadly’ as to outlaw all forms of protest against the war. These provisions state:

"(ii) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, logistical, or technical support for, or goods or services in support of, such an act or acts of violence or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or

(b) The prohibitions in subsection (a) of this section include, but are not limited to, (i) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order, and (ii) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.

(c) the term "United States person" means any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States.

All agencies of the United States Government are hereby directed to take all appropriate measures within their authority to carry out the provisions of this order and, where appropriate, to advise the Secretary of the Treasury in a timely manner of the measures taken."

To the subsection of this new US law, according to these legal experts, that says "...the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit...", the insertion of the word ‘services ’ has broad, and catastrophic, consequences for the American people in that any act deemed by their government to be against the Iraqi war is, in fact, supporting the ‘enemy’ and therefore threatens the ‘stabilization of Iraq’.

In an even greater affront to the American people are the provisions of a law called The Patriot Act, http://www.aclu.org/safefree/resources/17343res20031114.html and that should they run afoul of this new law they are forbidden to allow anyone to know about it, and as we can read as reported by the Seattle Times News Service: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/editorialsopinion/2002527215_patrioted29.html

"The [Patriot] act also expands the use of National Security Letters, which are a kind of warrant that the Justice Department writes for itself, authorizing its agents to seize such things as records of money movements, telephone calls and Internet visits. Recipients of a National Security Letter are not allowed to tell anyone about them, and so cannot contest them."

It is interesting to note, too, that this is not the first time that the United States has unleashed the brutal power of their government against its citizens to further their war aims and stifle domestic dissent, as during the European conflict of World War I they enacted a law called The Sedition Act of 1918 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition_Act_of_1918 and which "...forbade Americans to use "disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language" about the United States government, flag, or armed forces during war."

It is curious to note that after the enactment of this new law there has been no protest by any of the other political leaders in the United States, with the exception of the only Muslim member of the United States Congress, Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison, http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2007/07/17/critics_muslim_rep_likened_bush_hitler/6980/ and who compared President Bush to the Nazi War Leader Adolph Hitler by stating the attacks upon the World Trade Center could be likened to the burning of the Reichstag.

Today, as the United States faces an imminent economic collapse, http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1019.htm while at the same time its war bill has reached the staggering amount of $648 billion, http://www.kansascity.com/news/nation/story/194233.html one of the last freedoms the American people have had to protest their leaders actions against them, and other peoples in the World, has now been taken away from them, the freedom to speak and write in opposition to what is being done to them.

"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear", http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/g/george_orwell.html said the great British writer George Orwell, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Orwell but, and sadly, liberty has been lost to the once free people of the United States who are no longer allowed to tell their leaders, or each other, what they don’t want to hear.

With this being so, the American people should, likewise, contemplate their ‘new’ future, and as, also, stated best by George Orwell, "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/g/george_orwell.html

Complacency could be Fatal

How'm I doing? You really wanna know?

I'm pissed. That's how I'm doing.

Bush's executive order on August 17th, 2007 authorizes the seizure of assets of people who speak out against the war in Iraq. First of all: It's not a war. Congress has not declared war. It is not a war. It is a crime. Bush's executive order is a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. The fact that Bush has signed this executive order is in itself a high crime in that it is a betrayal of the public trust, which was vested in him (by his own sworn oath and .. this is a stretch.. by electoral vote..) to protect the Constitution, including the First Amendment.

How proud will you be when Americans are either Lords or Peasants, locked into those destinies by heredity? Isn't America supposed to be the exception to that?

How many homeless people did you see today?
How many things in your house were made in China by slaves?

How many idiots did you encounter today who think that everything is going along just fine?

When someone asks you how you are doing today, do me a favor. From now on, tell the Truth. Tell them, "I'm pissed". If you're unable to elaborate on why, due to immediate circumstances, have a short statement ready, like the one I use: "I can't talk about why here, but you can find out all about it on my website, "Peaceful Victory against Fascism dot com".

Fascism?

Yes. FASCISM.
A GOVERNMENT BOUGHT AND PAID FOR by CORPORATE INTERESTS who DON'T GIVE A DAMN about YOU or about AMERICA.

FASCISM.

It's what we fought World War II (under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt) to prevent. It's here in America Today. Have no doubt. It is a disease that has spread across the world and it depends on YOUR COMPLACENCY in order to thrive.

Yet there are smug morons all over the place saying things like "gitr dun", waving the flag, cussing congress and the courts and responsibility, while the essence of what it means to be an American, (the BILL of RIGHTS and the CONSTITUTION) are being ripped to shreds by corporate whores and a criminal, royalist, tory executive administration.

How am I doing..

I'm pissed. That's how I'm doing. I carried an M-16 for years because I thought I was defending the freedom outlined in that Bill of Rights. How can grown men in good concscience trick younger ones into that, over and over again?

What are you guys carrying arms for now? To subdue the freedoms you are sworn to protect? To Sell them off to the highest multinational bidder? To inflict the will of a CORPORATE KING on innocent people in other countries?

Do any of you even think about that oath of office you take any more?

And how about you in the News Media who warp reality, deny global warming, sell death and destruction in illegal wars, and don't even cover anything that could honestly give ordinary people a chance at truly improving things for themselves, their families or their communities? How does it feel to be a corporate whore? How does it feel to be an accomplice in the increased pain and suffering in the world that is resulting from your own personal corruption?

A civilized system of government would protect good people from the likes of you.

I would advise anyone with a conscience.. It's time to get off the bench. It's time to act for freedom. Your future depends on it.

And turn off that stupid TV. It's part of how we got into this mess.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

One thing we can do is get the word out.

Why IS New York Times Burying Pat Tillman Kensinger Story?

It's noteworthy that there's no mention of Pat Tillman on the opening page for the New York Times today, and that the Minnesota Bridge is the first Item Listed.

Censured general evades subpoena to appear before Tillman hearing

Michael Roston
Published: Wednesday August 1, 2007

Print This Email This

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) revealed in a Wednesday hearing that Lieutenant General Philip Kensinger, who was censured Tuesday by the Army for deceiving investigators regarding the announcement of the death of Army Specialist Pat Tillman, has evaded a subpoena issued by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

"General Kensinger refused to appear today," Chairman Waxman said in his opening statement. "His attorney informed the committee that General Kensinger would not testify voluntarily, and if issued a subpoena would seek to evade service. The committee did issue a subpoena to General Kensinger earlier this week, but US Marshals have been unable to locate or serve him."

The announcement came at the start of a hearing on the friendly fire death of Tillman, an NFL player who joined the Army after the 9/11 attacks. At the time, Tillman's example was highlighted by the Bush administration to praise the heroism of Americans voluntarily fighting in the 'Global War on Terrorism' before fratricide was revealed to be the cause of his death. Wednesday's hearing focused on what Defense Department officials knew about the cause of Tillman's death.

The hearing included testimony from ex-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, appearing in this public setting for the first time since his November 2006 resignation. Rumsfeld had told the committee he would not appear before the committee until late Tuesday night when he changed his schedule.

Also appearing before the committee were Gen. John P. Abizaid (Retired), Former Commander, U.S. Central Command, Gen. Richard B. Myers (Retired), Former Chair, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Bryan Douglas Brown (Retired), Former Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command.

While Waxman praised the witnesses for attending the hearing, and the Army for pressing its investigation, he also criticized the White House for failing to provide more information to the committee.

"The concealment of Corporal Tillman's fratricide caused millions of Americans to question the integrity of our government, but no one will tell us how and when the White House learned the truth," the California Democrat said.

Subdued Rumsfeld offers several 'I do not recalls'

Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) offered his own harsh remarks on the manner of the announcement of Tillman's death.

"Testimony from our previous hearing, and the results of six separate Army investigations all showed the tragic truth can only fall somewhere between screw-up and cover-up, between rampant incompetence and elaborate conspiracy," the Ranking Republican on the committee forcefully stated. "And once you're descending that continuum, it almost doesn't matter whether the failure to follow Army regulations...was inadvertent, negligent, or intentional."

But while Davis assailed the Pentagon's secrecy, he was defensive of the White House.

"Nothing in our inquiry thus far demonstrates that the Defense Secretary or the White House were aware that this was a friendly fire incident before late May [2004]," the Virginia Republican said. "That we have not learned otherwise may perplex those who assumed the worst given the gross mishandling of this tragedy."

After being sworn in, Rumsfeld offered a brief opening statement in which he expressed his regrets about the manner in which the Tillman family was notified of the Corporal's death.

But, he insisted that he did not recall much about the circumstances beyond the statement he had already presented to the Pentagon's Acting Inspector General in December 2006.

"I do not recall when I first learned about the possibility that Corporal Tillman's death might have resulted from fratricide," he read from the memo.

He also acknowledged that he was informed of Tillman's friendly fire death on May 20, 6 days before the Tillman family was notified.

Following terse opening statements from the other witnesses, Rumsfeld then received extensive questioning from Rep. Davis. He also said he could not recall the details during the questioning.

"I don't recall precisely how I learned he was killed - it could have been internally, it could have been through the press, it was something that obviously received a great deal of attention," he told Rep. Davis.

He also stated he had 'no recollection' of discussing the matter with the White House until after it was revealed that Tillman had died from friendly fire.

Rumsfeld went on to say that he did not have any recollection of seeing the 'Personal-4' or 'P-4' memo from Afghanistan which warned senior leaders that Tillman's death may have been caused by fratricide.

The ex-Secretary of Defense went on to answer a variety of questions about his complaints about the notification process on Tillman's death. He continued to express regret through the questioning with Davis.

"It is a most unfortunate situation that anyone has to agree is something that the department has to find ways to avoid in the future," he told the ranking minority member.

Congressman challenges timeline on notification

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) was not fully satisfied with Rumsfeld's explanation, and challenged how it was he was not informed until May 20 of the friendly fire incident.

"At least 30 people knew, including some of the highest ranking military officials in our government," Cummings pointed out. "If this was common knowledge among the top military ranks, Secretary Rumsfeld, something that was talked about across the backyard fences, how is it you didn't know?"

Rumsfeld responded that there were 3 million people in the Department of Defense.

"It's not possible for someone to know all the things that are going on," he said.

Cummings was dubious, pointing back to Rep. Carolyn Maloney's (D-NY) earlier referencing of memos written by Rumsfeld showing that he was aware of Tillman's career in particular because of his story as an athlete-turned-soldier.

"I would not be asking you these questions if it were not for the fact that we had a hero here, one that you were well aware of," the Maryland Democrat responded.

Cummings' questions eventually caused some of Rumsfeld's traditionally feisty spirit to emerge.

"I know that I would not engage in a cover up," he said with some anger in his voice. "I know that no one in the White House suggested such a thing to me. I know that the gentlemen sitting next to me are men of enormous integrity, and would not participate in something like that."

Bridge in a Bathtub.. or.. Somebody Spent the Bridge-Fixing Money

According to Thom Hartmann, Regarding the Minneapolis Minnesota Bridge collapse, the Heartland Institute released a news release 2 hours before the bridge collapse saying MN gov Tim Pawlenty-R issued 20 full or partial vetoes of tax hikes and increased spending, and in May vetoed a $330,000,000 emergency capital spending bill. Maybe this could have had an effect on maintenance and security of infrastructure? Maybe it could have something to do with corporatist royalists drowning our municipal administrations in a bathtub.. in this case the Mississippi River?

Wishing Peace and Strength to the survivors of the victims. Wishing that the perpetrators Check themselves, Get Help, and Get Better.

Republicans Realize Impeachment is Needed

Republicans Realize Impeachment is Needed

Is this Partisan?
Did the Republicans goose-step this country into an illegal war?
Did the Republicans goose-step us through two stolen Presidential elections and the 2002 mid-term?
Did the Republicans goose-step in order to get the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act Passed?
Did the Republicans goose-step in stonewalling any attempts at meaningful debate on these issues?

Who was Partisan?
Hitler's Nazi Party was partisan when it forced it's murderous leader to the top of the country's government.

What is a Republican Supposed to be?
A REAL republican stands for representative government of, for and by the people.

That is not what a goose-stepper stands for.

Any REAL republican stands for impeachment today.

Acting on Impeachment

Most readers of The Washington Post probably missed it. But probably not Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Fifty-six of his law school classmates (Harvard Law School, class of 1982) bought space for an open letter in mid-May that excoriated his “cavalier handling of our freedoms time and again.”

It read like an indictment, to wit:

“Witness your White House memos sweeping aside the Geneva Conventions to justify torture, endangering our own servicemen and women;

“Witness your advice to the President effectively reading Habeas Corpus out of our constitutional protections;

“Witness your support of presidential statements claiming inherent power to wiretap American citizens without warrants (and the Administration’s stepped-up wiretapping campaign, taking advantage of those statements, which continues on your watch to this day); and

“Witness your dismissive explanation of the troubling firings of numerous U.S. Attorneys, and their replacement with other more ‘loyal’ to the President’s politics, as merely ‘an overblown personal matter.’

“In these and other actions, we see a pattern. As a recent editorial put it, your approach has come to symbolize ‘disdain for the separation of powers, civil liberties and the rule of law.’”

By now you’re expecting something like a conclusion by his classmates, such as a demand for resignation or a call for Gonzales’ impeachment. No such logic.

Instead, these intrepid classmates punted, urging Gonzales and President Bush “to relent from this reckless path, and begin to restore respect for the rule of law we all learned to love many years ago.”

Just this week, four Democratic Senators called for a special prosecutor to investigate their belief that Gonzales gave false testimony about the regime’s warrantless domestic surveillance program. They criticized the Attorney General for possessing an instinct “to dissemble and to deceive.”
Four of Gonzales’ top aides have already resigned. The head of the FBI, Robert Mueller, just testified before Congress and contradicted Gonzales’ statements which were made under oath.

It is not often that an Attorney General of the United States is treated with bi-partisan inferences of perjury before a major Senate Committee (the Senate Judiciary Committee). Senator Patrick J. Leahy, the soft-spoken Chairman, said to him: “I just don’t trust you.”

His counterpart, Republican Senator Arlen Specter, the ranking minority member of the Committee, extended his fellow Senator’s remark, adding, “Your credibility has been breached to the point of being actionable.”

Why don’t these and other Democratic and Republican Senators say plainly what they say privately day after day: that they believe that the Attorney General has lied under oath, and not just once.

Again, they avoid the logical conclusion.

But then the Democrats have been doing this dance of evasion with George W. Bush on a far larger scale for four years. After all, Gonzales’ impeachable offenses are his superiors’. Gonzales took the orders; Bush-Cheney gave the orders. The litany of Bush-Cheney impeachable abuses extends far beyond those associated with Gonzales, foremost among them of course Bush plunging the nation into a bloody, costly war-quagmire on a platform of fabrications, deceptions and cover-ups again and again, year after year. And Gonzales took the orders; Bush-Cheney gave the orders—a more serious basis for a Congressional demand for their resignation or the commencing of impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.

Compare the many impeachable offenses of Bush-Cheney with the certain impeachment of President Richard K. Nixon that was rendered moot by his resignation in 1974. Compare the actual impeachment of President William Jefferson Clinton by a Republican-controlled House of Representatives in 1998 for lying under oath about sex.

Granted, Nixon became ensnared in the criminal laws and Clinton was caught in the tort laws. But Bush-Cheney’s “high crimes and misdemeanors” tower in scope and diversity over those earlier Presidents.

Instead of a burglary and coverup, as with Nixon, it was the horrific ongoing war (longer than either the Civil War and World War II) with hundreds of thousands of lost lives and many more injuries and sicknesses.

Instead of a sex scandal, as with Clinton, there is a serial constitutional scandal oozing ongoing repeated constitutional crimes. For which alas, there is only one constitutional remedy arranged by the framers – impeachment.

And that remedy the Democrats took “off the table” after they won the Congress last November and before they even took office. Just what the White House recidivists needed to know to keep at it. What a lesson for future generations.

Most Americans do not want their members of Congress to practice rushing to judgment. Nor do they want their members to rush away from judgment. The Democrats, with very few exceptions, are very good at escaping from their constitutional responsibilities.

It is time to hold the Bush-Cheney-Administration responsible for their indefensible acts.
