We know where they get their ideas from
"It is always simply a matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Let Amy Goodman interview the President
Here's an Idea: why don't we get Amy Goodman a press-pass for the White House? She's a respectable journalist with a demonstrated concern for the well-being of democracy. No reason why she shouldn't be able to ask our government questions. Being as they let the likes of Jeff Gannon in to ask questions, Amy should have no problem getting a pass.

Call out those who will water down the truth.
I called the [unnamed radio show]. You can tell her bosses are keeping her on a leash. She is doing to us what the corporatist wing of the Democratic party is doing to us: Pretending to represent the better judgment of the people of the United States, to diffuse our justified outrage and indignation, to sap our energy and derail our progressive causes, enabling right-wingers to play "straight-man" in the show, and then to HAND EVERYTHING OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE.
We have to be wise to this. And we need to call out those who are undecided, those who are brainwashed into following these Bushies, to those who don't care. When they make cracks about Martha Stewart, we need to turn the discussion to people like Kenneth Lay and Bernie Ebbers. When they start sounding like they think these neocons are on their side, we need to remind them,
"You are living a lie.
You are selling us out."
When they say they are following their "War President" because he is a "good man", all evidence of torture, stolen elections, illegal invasions and crony-corruption aside, we need to remind them, again,
"You are living a lie.
You are selling us out."
When they profess to be "moderates", they are running interference to the facts. In the last part of XXX's show today, entitled "Conspiracy Corner", her associate "XXX" ran off a quick list of verified facts that you won't hear on Fox news, and while he did, [the host] was crying out in the background, "Oh, XXX, stop" and laughing. I checked to see who her boss was.
Clearchannel.
You know, next to brainwashed zombies who will blindly, faithfully follow their Great Leader over a cliff without question, who are at least faithful to their convictions, these "moderates" are contemptible. As are their employers.
Nonetheless, during my call to their station, I did manage to get the following message out twice:
"You are living a lie.
You are selling us out."
Talk to people. Get out of the comfort zone. You'll get better at it with practice. We have to teach them. They've been misled. And they are putting us all in a great deal of danger.

Corporatism breeds OPPRESSION
How do fascists subdue their populations? They sell-out or overthrow their democratic governments. Grover Norquist, a close cohort of the Bush-Rove axis, said he wants our government "the size where we can drown it in the bathtub". What's one of the biggest financial pools many organizations have? Retirement. In our country, much of that is in a public trust managed by the Social Security Administration. It has been, since the last major disaster caused by a de-regulated, reckless, irresponsible corporatist system: the Great Depression. Bush-Rove sees the opportunity to strike a major blow to our democratic system of government, in the shifting of funds from a "lock-box" that is under our care through congressional oversight, to Wall-street, where the sharks and thieves will do with it as they please: Maybe move it to the Caymans. Maybe further wire up the system and arm it for the day when they convince their puppets to repeal the first amendment.
The thing to keep in mind here is that our government, theoretically, is the system through which you and I protect ourselves, and each other. It is where the courts are, so we can settle disputes. It is where the makers and enforcers of laws are, to protect us and our property.
When our government becomes weaker than, corrupted by or prostituted to, private entities, those private entities become ruling gangs, and no crying about "rights" will make those gangs merciful; and when they commit social or environmental atrocities, who will be there to tell them to stop?
We told Hitler to stop, through our government. A fully-corporatized system, in all likelihood, would have sided with him, and America would have died sixty years ago.
Instead of in 2000.
How else do fascists subdue their populations? By removing their right to a fair and speedy trial. Over the years, out-of-court-settlements have circumnavigated true justice, and the "drug-war" has crippled the system to the point where sick people are chased down and locked up while violent thugs run free.
Now, to add to the attacks on our rights for a fair and speedy trial, a right we have struggled for since before the signing of the Magna Carta almost a millennium ago, the Bush/Rove axis is attacking victims-rights. They are putting limits on the amounts victims of injustice can receive. They are attacking those who would represent us in court. Civil-rights attorney Lynn Stewart is being used to set an example for those who would defend us. They are using their monopolized press to denigrate "activist judges" and "frivolous lawsuits", all in the name of "tort-reform" (ptah!!).
They are attacking every woman's right to choose how to manage her own health, and her future. That's roughly half of us in one shot!
How else do fascists subdue their populations? They censor the press. They band together in coalitions or monopolize the media market so that only the information they want spread gets out. They remove uncontrollable elements like Howard Stern under a form of censorship labeled "decency". They pressure their journalists to toe the party line under threat of losing their jobs. In a fair, accurate, un-monopolized media marketplace, this would provide emphasis. Homogenized today, it has become pervasive, mind-numbing propaganda.
When the guy in the delivery truck in the middle of the afternoon, or the network administrator on the graveyard-shift might start thinking something is wrong, every attempt is made by the organized megaphone of the Bush/Rove axis to dispel the notion by laughing off the term "Class-War". Listen carefully.
It IS class war.
Ever wonder why they're locking up poor people for not paying the right amount of taxes, but entire corporations are not paying any?
Ever wonder why the penalties for Crack-Cocaine possession average ten times what the penalties are for Powder-Cocaine? Ever think it might have something to do with what class-groups tend to favor which varieties of the drug?
Ever wonder who in God's green earth gave one man the right to decide what another man puts into his own body in privacy, anyway?
This is not new stuff. It's all been done before. The Romans recruited poor soldiers to oppress even poorer people, and to steal their land for the rich.
Goebbels inundated the population of Germany with Big Lies, convincing the un-educated working-class, the "lumpenproletariat", that the axis ideology had their interests at heart. Like a frog in a warming pot of water, that entire country did nothing to stop the madness until the better judgment of the world bombed them into submission. Read carefully.
Limbaugh and others like him are doing the exact same thing to us now. The last two "elections" and the current and upcoming wars are the result.
If someone you know, or perhaps even you, have any reservations about the danger that the former "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" is in today, this message is easy to remember:
You are living a lie.
You are selling us out.
To those who willingly went to the polls and did what Clearchannel and Fox News told them to do:

Tsunami aid
Officials say the best way to help victims of the massive earthquake and resulting tsunami in South Asia is to send money. Clothes and food can pile up fast and go unused. Sending money allows agencies to buy relief supplies locally, boosting the economies of the devastated areas and allowing the agencies to purchase supplies that victims really need. New DNC Head Dean Hopes to Rebuild Party
Saturday February 12, 2005 10:01 PM

By WILL LESTER
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - New national Democratic Chairman Howard Dean promised Saturday to rebuild the party in the most conservative regions of the country, help develop state and local organizations and let congressional Democrats set the tone on policy.
Electing Dean on a voice vote during their winter meeting, Democrats put the party's leadership in the hands of the skilled fund-raiser and organizer whose sometimes caustic, blunt comments can lead to controversy. The physician now must contend with a state-by-state political map in which Republican red overwhelms Democratic blue.
``I'll pretty much be living in red states in the South and West for quite a while,'' Dean told reporters. ``The way to get people not to be skeptical about you is to show up and say what you think.''
The normally outspoken Dean appeared to be trying to shift his role from flamboyant presidential candidate to cautious party chairman.
``The proper place for the day-to-day battles is Congress,'' Dean said in response to a question about his opposition to the war in Iraq. ``My views are well known, but most of the policy pronouncements will be coming from the leaders in Congress and not from me.''
Dean has plenty of other chores to keep him busy.
President Bush just won his second term. Republicans are firmly in control of the House and the Senate. And the GOP is gaining strength in conservative states in the South and West.
The former Vermont governor promised to learn how Democrats can communicate positions more effectively.
Dean says that no one is ``pro-abortion,'' but ``we are the party in favor of allowing women to make up their own minds about their health care.''
And Democrats are not for ``gay marriage,'' but ``we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people,'' he says.
Dean is determined to seize the moral high ground from Republicans, arguing Democratic positions on helping the poor and protecting children are consistent with religious values.
The new chairman sounded like a man in a hurry: ``Republicans wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before regaining Congress. ... The American people cannot afford to wait 40 years for us to regain control in Washington and put the government back to work for Americans.''
Dean has been criticizing Republicans all week and has promised to stay on the offensive, but GOP Chairman Ken Mehlman contacted Dean to congratulate him and then put out a statement describing Dean as ``a strong leader for his party.''
The kid-glove treatment is unlikely to last. Reminded Saturday that former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich had said Dean would be the perfect leader for Democrats if they have a ``death wish,'' Dean smiled broadly and said: ``I'm looking forward to the opportunity to prove Newt wrong.''
On Saturday, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts gave the DNC another $225,000, donated by Kerry supporters, for grass-roots development. The 2004 presidential nominee gave $1 million last week.
As Dean takes on his new DNC duties, his brother Jim takes over the former governor's political action committee - Democracy for America.
Howard Dean replaces outgoing party chief Terry McAuliffe, who raised more money than Republicans in the last election cycle, developed a sophisticated voter file and e-mail list, and left the party in the black after the presidential election.
Democrats generally sounded an optimistic tone about Dean, hoping for the best from their new chairman who is attempting to show more restraint.
When Dean was asked about anonymous criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, he quickly brushed it aside, saying, ``I'm not going to respond to blind quotes.''

Why the Bush Administration ignored 52 warnings of attack from April to September 10, 2001
Yes, 52. According to the New York Times, February 10, 2005, "...leaders of the F.A.A. received 52 intelligence reports from their security branch that mentioned Mr. bin Laden or Al Qaeda from April to Sept. 10, 2001. That represented half of all the intelligence summaries in that time."
Why did they just sit on it?
Why did Bush just sit there in that classroom when he was told the attacks were in progress?
It's called the Project for the New American Century (PNAC). A quick summary of it is available here. PNAC is chaired by the editor of a newspaper owned by the CEO of FOX News, Rupert Murdoch. According to PNAC, America must dominate the world, and in order for events to begin that will enable this, a "... catastrophic and catalysing event - like a new Pearl Harbor..." (from page 51 of the PNAC report entitled "REBUILDING AMERICA’S DEFENSES") was needed.
Tell three people tomorrow.
