The guys who own the Baywalk aren't guaranteeing that they'll invest 6 million into baywalk. They're saying "up to (6 million)". Even if they were guaranteeing it, why are you intent on selling out the freedom of your constituents by "vacating" the sidewalk there? This would set a very bad precedent in St. Petersburg. This move to give public space to private interests, just so you can keep certain people out of that area, reeks of racism and corporatism. In America, our public servants are charged with preserving our freedoms.
Please don't sell us out.

Please don't toss around the 'racism' word lightly. This is like with the anita hill/clarence thomas thing. I'm seeing it described as racism in places and how could that BE? They're both of color.
My point is: If it's NOT even remotely racism then it should not be labeled as such. In this way we can root out the TRUE racism and deal with it as we can. Racism is a passe' term which needs to be cast aside in favor of 'looking forward'.
If you really study the use of the word 'race' to describe the differences between folks of color and lack of color ... it's a stupid word to utilize.
I say this to the world at large not just to you.
Someone needs to tell st pete to go fuck themselves on this issue.

toldya that's what they wanted and that's what they'd get a year ago. if they could get away with it they'd gate it and check id. and that might be next. the place is a rancid dump. the only thing FUN about it were the protesters. LMAO.
They're just upset because there might be REAL witnesses to them shoving HEAVY SPEAKERS off the second floor onto the head of young boys passing below as in the REAL STORY of what happened there. So, move a block out and get the boycott signs ready.
